Our Shopify data migration moves products, customers and order history from any platform, checked record by record. Our ecommerce data migration services move everything your store runs on: the full product catalog with variants, images and metafields, every customer account and address, and years of order history. All mapped correctly and checked record by record before launch.
Our ecommerce data migration services follow four steps, so nothing is lost or duplicated:
Data exported from your old platform, CRM or spreadsheets.
Duplicates removed and fields mapped to Shopify.
Products, customers and orders imported in checked batches.
Counts, totals and samples compared with the source.
| Data | Shopify field |
|---|---|
| Titles, descriptions, SEO fields | Product fields and SEO settings |
| Options and SKUs | Variants |
| Custom attributes | Metafields, including Shopify variant metafields |
| Images | Product and variant images |
| Categories | Collections and tags |
Large catalogs are imported in batches with checks after each. If your data is messy, our Shopify product data entry services clean it as we import: titles, tags, missing fields and product data optimization, so your product data for ecommerce is better than before. Shopify product data entry is also available on its own, and you can outsource product data entry to us for new products after launch. We offer ecommerce product data entry services and general ecommerce data entry too, including Shopify data entry for customers and orders.
Coming from Magento? Magento to Shopify data migration is one of our most common projects: we migrate products from Magento to Shopify with attributes as metafields, and import products from Magento to Shopify in checked batches, so Magento to Shopify product migration never stalls on large catalogs.
Shopify customers move across with names, addresses, tags, marketing consent and order history. Passwords cannot be migrated, because platforms store them encrypted, so customers set a new password through a Shopify account invite.
For Shopify Plus customers we also map customer groups to tags and B2B companies. Our data migration service covers CRM records too: CRM data migration services and ecommerce data integration with your CRM after launch.
Shopify cannot import orders through a CSV in the admin, so we import orders through the API with their original dates, totals and fulfillment status, and with customer emails switched off.
Past orders keep their line items, addresses, taxes, discounts and fulfillment status, and stay linked to each customer, so their history looks the same as before.
We handle personal data under GDPR: secure transfer, no copies kept after the project and only the data you need moved. As a data migration services company with Shopify migration support for large businesses, we sign a data processing agreement on request.
Every migration follows our Shopify migration checklist, the same ecommerce migration checklist we use for every platform: back up the old store, map every URL, move data, rebuild key pages, set redirects, connect the domain, test orders and watch rankings after launch. Moving from Magento? See our Magento to Shopify migration checklist. For the website migration SEO impact, see our SEO migration service, and for the full platform move, our Shopify migration services.

Yes. We've migrated catalogs of 50,000+ SKUs. Large migrations use bulk import tools and scripted data transformation — not manual CSV editing.
We clean and restructure the data during migration. Common issues we fix: inconsistent variant naming, duplicate SKUs, missing image URLs, wrong currency formats and encoding errors.
We migrate images from the source platform's URLs, download them and re-upload to Shopify's media library to ensure they're permanently stored on Shopify's CDN.
Small catalogs (under 500 products): 2–3 days. Medium (500–5,000): 5–7 days. Large (5,000+): 2–4 weeks.
No. Passwords are encrypted and cannot be transferred between platforms. Customers will receive a password reset email inviting them to create a new Shopify account. This is standard for any platform migration.
Customers won't see order history in their new Shopify account by default. We migrate order history into the backend so your team can reference it — displaying it to customers requires custom development.
Yes. We handle all customer data according to GDPR requirements. Data is transferred securely, not retained beyond the project and we advise on customer communication best practices.
We deduplicate by email address during migration, merging records where possible and flagging conflicts for your review.
Your team needs order history for customer service (checking past orders), returns & refunds and business analytics. Without historical data, you're flying blind from day one on the new platform.
Yes, using the Shopify Order Import API or trusted migration tools. We import orders in a read-only historical state — they won't re-trigger fulfillment workflows or notifications.
Migrated historical orders appear in your Shopify admin but may affect lifetime revenue reports. We advise on how to set up date filters to distinguish historical vs. new Shopify orders in your analytics.
As far back as your source platform stores data — typically unlimited. We've migrated order histories going back 10+ years.
Use Shopify's customer CSV import for simple lists, or the API for large lists with tags, addresses and consent. Customers then receive an account invite to set a password.
Not when imported correctly. We import orders with notifications switched off, so customers are not emailed about old orders.
Yes. Options become variants and custom attributes become metafields, including variant metafields.
